Amanda Ross-Ho Named 2025 Marciano Art Foundation Artadia Awardee
Department of Art professor recognized for contributions to contemporary art
UC Irvine Claire Trevor School of the Arts Professor Amanda Ross-Ho has been named the 2025 Marciano Art Foundation Artadia Awardee, one of only three Artadia Awardees in Los Angeles, and the sole recipient of the Marciano Award. Artadia, a non-profit grantmaking organization, recognizes the excellence of visual artists working in Los Angeles County at pivotal career moments. After a rigorous two-tiered jury process, 497 applications were reviewed, with decisions made by an esteemed jury, including curators and art professionals like Regine Basha, Suzy Halajian, Anna Katz, and Karsten Lund. Ross-Ho’s recognition as the Marciano Artadia Awardee, which includes an unrestricted $25,000 grant, highlights her significant contributions to contemporary art.
“Being recognized with a 2025 Los Angeles Artadia Award is incredibly meaningful, especially at this stage of my life and career,” said Ross-Ho. “Having lived, worked and taught in Los Angeles for 21 years, it is an honor to be acknowledged for my contributions to this community and its constantly evolving art discourse.”
Ross-Ho’s interdisciplinary practice spans sculpture, installation and photography while exploring everyday objects’ material and psychic dimensions. Her work addresses memory, inheritance and time, often reconfiguring familiar items at an altered scale to offer new interpretations of the ordinary.
This honor underscores Ross-Ho’s continued influence in the Los Angeles art community. Her work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including at The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, The New Museum, and the Whitney Biennial. She has also completed major public art commissions, such as large-scale sculptures at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago and New York’s City Hall Park.
